CHICAGO (AP) A Chicago government employee is facing theft and misconduct charges for allegedly putting gasoline from city pumps into his own car.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Sidney Redwine stole gas from city fuel pumps approximately 30 times between April and November of last year for a total of about 300 gallons.
Redwine is a watchman for Chicago's Department of General Services and has worked for the city since 2005.
Chicago Inspector General David Hoffman says Redwine apparently used his city employee identification card to access the pumps and fraudulently recorded that he was fueling city-owned vehicles rather than his own car.
Redwine was ordered held on $15,000 bond.
